There’s nothing like a bit of intrigue and gossip to brighten up your day. With that in mind, I have looked into my crystal ball and, in Popbitch-style, have made a few predictions about what’s going to happen music-wise over the next few months.
A well-known UK hard techno DJ (no, not Dave Clarke, the guy I’m talking about isn’t that well known yet) who has a long-running residency at one of England’s biggest techno nights will release a guitar/industrial-based album that could propel him onto the stadium circuit;
Diynamic, a small Hamburg house label, will release one of this year’s biggest crossover records, a la ‘Rej’ or ‘Body Language’: the plucked string melody of Solomun & Stimming’s ‘Feuer & Eis’ will be played everywhere this year;
Every Norwegian with a scruffy beard and unkempt mane will be required by law to make cosmic disco;
Barcelona will become the new Berlin, only with better weather and a beach as an influx of producers move to the city to avail of next to nothing rent in the wake of the Spanish property market crash;
Following in the wake of Dr Lektroluv and Redshape, another member of the European techno community will assume a fictional, cartoon-like identity to release an album project;
One of Berlin’s most popular minimal labels will launch a sub-label to cater for the rising demand for house music both in Germany and internationally;
Gui Boratto’s ‘Beautiful Life’ will be used as the theme tune to at least one major sporting event;
one of Germany’s most popular ‘pastoral’ techno producers will open a bird sanctuary with the proceeds of his DJ fees.
Interesting...
Does anyone have any clue who Redshape is?
It's annoying the crap out of me not knowing.
Joris Voorn? Justin Berkovi? Ewan Pearson?

kinda don't want to know. like the fact its faceless, think if i found out i'd immediately associate them with their other works. like the fact that every single things he/they/she's done to date has been outstanding. same goes for shed

i reckon the hard techno DJ is Surgeon, alot of his recent stuff has been leaning heavily towards that sound. he always has been strongly influenced by the industrial/noise scene but the recent bad hands stuff has seemed more so than ever.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say the UK DJ is Ade Fenton (he's a bit gothic and does stuff with Gary Numan). Barcelona is still relatively expensive compared to Berlin. I know who Redshape is. He isn't really a legendary name by any means but he has a decent amount of records out. Interestingly enough, his Redshape output is light years better than the music under his real name.
As for the techno/birds thing, my guess is Dominik Eulberg since he's a huge nature nut.

The hard DJ is Ade, he's just done an album with Numan singing on it. We thought everyone knew who Redshape is :)

Z, care to let me know who Redshape is?
...and more importantly, how you know?
Posted by: Beat | May 03, 2007 at 06:22 PM
Sebastian Kramer apparently.
The German label is Mobilee.
I prefer the Guido Schneider remix on that Diynamic 12 to be honest!

correct on Ade Fenton, sworn to secrey on redshape - although it looks like the cat is out of the bag, mobilee is launching a sub-label as Ronan pointed out and just to be daft I made up that thing about the bird sanctuary, but anyone who guessed Eulberg is probably right anyway!

It is Ade, and if there is any justice he will go onto to bigger heights, his new album is his best production,fyi he has done a DJ mix on this weeks "White Noise".
